Listed property status
There are many variations of property which are regarded by the government to have a special status which effects the development of the property. A listed property is put into three main categories: Grade 1 listed, Grade 2 Listed or a property that is within the chattels of a listed property.

In addition or separate to being listed the property may be sited in an area of outstanding natural beauty. More commonly the property may be located in a conservation area.
All of these variations require consultation and approval of the conservation department of the local authority and even when consent is granted, the council will stipulate specific guidance and conditions.
